all creatures great and small
Spring colors
It was the middle of April in 1987 and on this fabulous spring day I hopped on the subway and traveled out to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to see what wonders this famous city landmark held for its' visitors. As I passed by this small patch of beautiful tulips early in the morning, I thought it was too bad that it wasn't a lot bigger. It was so small it made the patch very difficult to capture artistically with my camera, with chain fences and paths to walk on in front and behind.
So I decided to pull out my longest micro lens and allow it to create the illusion of a much bigger field of beautiful blossoms. While I was at it, I chose to wait and come back in the afternoon when the lowering sun would slide down behind them, creating a wonderful translucent set of highlights. Turns out both decisions were good choices.
