• Stepping out onto my backyard deck the freshly deposited rain left a tiny silver / green spider and it's web standing out in a spot on my deck where it would normally go unnoticed.

Gathering my specialized close up equipment, of which I have a great deal of, and training it on my little uninvited guest took a bit of time, and when I finally had everything in just the right position for optimal sharpness, at an angle that also made for a pleasing composition the rain drops had almost totally disappeared.

No problem, I went back into the kitchen and got my spray bottle and bathed my diminutive backyard visitor and it's delicate home in a shower of glistening H2O, which annoyed the little fellow to no end. Every time I sprayed him, he furiously wiped off his legs and body to dry off.

I knew I was being a royal pain in his arachnoid ass, but in the end it did make for a nice little photo.

 • Last year my next door neighbor Jess planted morning glories in her backyard. She didn't realize that they come back up every year. But I did, and this year while I cut back many of the plants that pushed their way through my side of our fence, I left the vines from the glories as they slowly turned my fence from white to green, alone. And eventually I was rewarded.
 • Snails aren't the only thing I find in the little garden in my front yard. This guy has been inhabiting my tiny garden for several days now, and he's a very welcome guest.

 • This little guy is sometimes called a green ladybug, but it is NOT a lady bug. It's called a spotted cucumber beetle, and unlike a lady bug, it is a huge garden pest. Quite pretty looking though.

 • Flowerflys
 • Hoverflies love to feed on the nectar of flowers hence the nickname flowerfly.

 • This has been one cold and cloudy spring in 2016. It's difficult to remember days that were warm and sunny. Well today was one that at least was fairly sunny, and if not the warmest of spring days was pleasent enough to coax one outside. And seeing as I was still on my mini vacation, I planned to take advantage of it by going to the botanical gardens in the Bronx.

One of the place I like to visit when I'm there is the rock gardens. There's so much to choose from on any given day . While taking in the sights with my eyes and my camera, I spotted a group of yellow flowers upon some high rocks, but when I worked my way over there it turned out that it was one of those objects that's wonderful to look at but not to photograph. (The sooner one comes to understand this truism of photography the better your collection of pictures will start to look).

However while the flowers didn't do much for me gazing at them in full frontal sunlight, I thought it might be a good idea if I tried capturing them from the shaded side.
