all creatures great and small
The not so early bird
As I walked about the grounds at Wave Hill today I spotted a contingent of robins, persistently feeding under a group of pines. I grabbed a few shots in the morning and moved on. Passing by the same spot later in the afternoon, I saw more robins still flying in and out of the nettle lined grass fervently hunting and grabbing up whatever tidbits they could.
I knew that many robins hunting that persistently in the same area for that long, were doing so not just because the hunting for berries and bugs were good here. One or more of them let it out that there were worms here, and if I hung around long enough I could grab a shot of one of them digging one out of it's winter slumber for a tasty and highly nutritious meal. Didn't take more than about 15 minutes to hit that hunch dead on.
