  • Getting into her personal space and getting up in her face was all the second sparrow was willing to put up with. Now she got on the offensive rolling up her sleeves and responding back, “B%&×÷, who died and made you queen of the backyard?” And the morning dove slides down still farther, trying to keep out of harms way, as things are heading south in a hurry.
  • Now the crazed histrionics of the first sparrow really got the dander up on the second one. You can almost seem to see her get up on her hunches, tap her foot down and tell the first female “I’ve got just as much right to sit here as you do!”, not backing down an inch. Notice the dove on the right continues to inch over, but is now quickly running out of real estate.
  • This display of moxie and determination from the second sparrow did little to make the first one back down, quite the contrary. Instead she flew into a rage spreading her wings and really telling the second sparrow off, nearly knocking our poor dove off his perch, as he now had nowhere else to slide down to to get away from this ‘cat / bird fight’.

  • Neither bird was willing to back down and now the second sparrow started jumping up and down screeching at the first, and the first screeched right back.
  • Then as quickly as it started the fight ended. Their temper tantrum over all things return to peace and quiet on my backyard perch.
