As I have aged I discovered that time truly does speed up as I get older. And as the months and years now whiz by at alarming speed, one of the things I have lost as I sought to keep up with the speeding clock, is getting together from time to time with friends I no longer work with or live near to. So this year I have made a concerted effort to get together with as many of those friends as I can.
On this cloudy drizzly day last month I got together after work with my friend and former co-worker Jesi for dinner at a restaurant on the lower east side called La Zarza's. I had enjoyed it so much after having dinner there with my one of my other wonderful friends - Toni (the mother of my two godson's), that I wanted to try out some other of their interesting dishes.
When Jesi said she wanted to walk there from our meeting place at Herald Square I was delighted as I love to walk, and the long trip might present me with some opportunities to photograph her looking into the window of some interesting and unusual shops. While none of the opportunities like that turned out to be artistic enough for me to want to capture, our trip down Broadway did give me the opportunity to meet Joe Mangrum for the first time.
