Looking at this little girl I was impressed with her ability to balance that plate on the end of that stick in that bizarre position. I was also happy that I managed to capture her whole routine on film.
As I was standing all the way in the back of the auditorium by the door, I had only one lens that could fill the frame with these pint sized performers from that great a distance, and had a maximum aperture wide enough to use indoors. My old 135mm f2.8.
But that lens is well over 20 years old, and so predates auto focus and anti shake stabilization. So I was going to have to focus all the shots myself, and hold my camera absolutely still through the whole routine. But somehow, just like the little girl, I pulled it off.
