• Passing by this familiar field of Bluebells that I'd already photographed several times before on my previous trip to the Botanical Gardens, I noticed how nicely the late afternoon light falling on this curving field of lavender lovelies and decided to pull out my camera and record this scene just one more time.

 • For the curious those pretty lavender flowers (Spanish bluebells) displayed prominently in many of the half dozen or so shots just prior to this one, can be spotted in the background of this photo off to the left.

 • So here I am right where my photographic renaissance began 5 years ago, on a cruise. Then back in 2007 I purchased a little Fujifilms point and shoot camera and took it with me on an island hopping cruise with my very good friend Michael. He and I had been talked into going on our very first cruise back then by a number of the girls at work that go on a cruise every year, and finally talked he and I into joining them.

The room we had on that first trip was small, yet still nice enough, because of a balcony giving us a nice place to step outside on and enjoy the sea view. On this cruise, our second to Bermuda, the girls not only talked Michael and I into joining them, but a large number of our union membership from several stores as well. The huge number of our group going on the same cruise gave us all a huge discount on our rooms. Michael used the savings he and I got for the room to upgrade to one of the fanciest suits on the ship, in front right under the captains bridge. The room was large and the view was fabulous.
I chose to take advantage of the rooms view potential right off the bat taking shots from our balcony as we sailed out of NY harbor to start our trip. Here it was clear we weren't the only people taking advantage of our luxury suits fantastic views.
 • I wanted to get a few shots from our balcony as we passed under the Verrazano bridge on our way our to sea. I really wanted to get a shot of Michael but he had his eyes closed in both shots I took! Ah well no use crying over spilled milk. At least this one turned out nice.
