This porch, totally taken back by mother nature is huge. It actually wraps around this whole side of the house. Wow what great garden parties you could have had there back in the day.
Looking at this house the only thing interesting that I thought there was about it was it's architecture, but as I got out of Ricia's SUV, I started talking to a neighbor who lived across the street as he was mowing his lawn, and he told me the home was in actuality historic.
It turns out this home sits on land owned by the Rhode Island senator James Dewolf (as were numerous homes on both sides of Hope street). Dewolf made a major part of his family fortune in the slave trade. The house was given to the grandfather of artist Charles Dana Gibson when he married Dewolf's daughter, and has changed owners many times since then.
So while I didn't find that perfect New England home to capture against some nice fall colors, I certainly did find and interesting one.
