The other foot bridge
The marsh down the hill from the Healing Gardens at Snug Harbor has provided me with a lot of nature shots over the years. As a number of animals are drawn to such locales. The marsh is also flanked by a pair of foot bridges.
The bridge at the south end has been photographed far more often by me then this one on the north end. But the few times I have have been quite nice. The last time it was the center of a composition for me was 10 years ago after a snow storm. Setting up off to the side of the bridge I got a wonderful composition with the waterfall running under the bridge and the Chinese Gardens off in the distance.
But the much has changed since then. The tree in that shot off to the right of the bridge was cut down by a winter storm. And the Chinese gardens can no longer be seen from that spot because a huge thatch of vines has grown wild at the far end of the bridge and complete blocks your view of the gardens. So I had to look around and see if there was another image hidden in here somewhere.
It didn't take more than a minute as the wonderful late afternoon lighting made for a nice image without me ever stepping off the bridge.
