• Only in a quaint little town like this one in Rhode Island would I run across a business that uses a tree to display it wares on.

 • One of my wonderful friends is a member of the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and she invited me to join her to see a wood carving exhibit they were holding in Smithtown, and then take me on a tour of some of the local towns. It was the perfect opportunity to scout out some new locales to eventually add more shots to my scenic gallery, which could really use a jolt from visits to new places.
 • While I helped Ricia back to her SUV with her purchase of bird seeds from the Audubon Society's gift shop, I again liked what they had done to their property to celebrate the fall season. So this time as she and I left the wood carving exhibit I stopped for a moment to take a picture of how nicely the entrance to the Society's property looked.
 • There was scarcely anything George displayed either on his table or his album collection that hadn't won 1st or 2nd place ribbon from something. His work is really wonderful.

 • Some of Goerge's works were so good they weren't for sale because his wife couldn't part with them.

 • Of the many fine artists here on display the works by Carol Schmedinghoff were my favorite. She made the most marvelous nature scene's in mini picture frames. They were just marvelous.
 • Our visit to the wood carving exhibit in Smithfield over, Reesh and I headed back to NY. However she was taking me on a scenic rather than direct route back to the city, to give me the opportunity to scout out some picturesque locations for future photo opps for my scenic gallery, which was the reason for my joining her on her trip to Rhode Island in the first place.

As she drove down West Main road on the way to taking us to the historic town of Newport we both noticed an ice cream parlor off to our right. As we drove past it Ricia glanced at me and asked "Are you feeling it?", our minds in perfect sync. And though I wasn't hungry all afternoon to this point, the idea of some honest to goodness New England Ice cream indeed sounded tempting, and the "Awful Awful" advertised by the front door sounded equally tempting, so of course I said "yes", and Reesh turned us around and pulled up into the parking lot.

The ice cream menu was happily a lengthy one giving us many choices, but while I was in the mood for just dessert, Reesh wanted a little more balanced snack. She ordered some tasty sounding soup that sounded like something you would find in a New England eatery as well as some ice cream for dessert. I went right for my sweet tooth and ordered a sundae filled with lots of different exotic flavors. Then I chased it down with a root beer float. It was quite good. Didn't try the 'awful awful', but I can always sample that one on our next trip.
