This isn't haze or fog, or poor contrast from improper exposure, it's smoke, lots and lots of it. The last houses that the firemen were putting out were visible just a few minutes before, soon they were covered in smoke from the fire, minutes later the whole block. Praise the Lord, in a fire this bad that damaged a half a dozen homes, no one lost their life.
