Fork in the road
Been dying to try out my new camera at its lowest light sensitivity setting ( almost always the best image quality setting for any camera even a cheap point and shoot). This foot bridge was my first opportunity with enough light out to try it.
Not a particularly photogenic setting but the D810 is said to rival a medium format camera at this ISO, so I was anxious enough to try it out even on this dull scene. Plus I could try my marvelous 55mm lens on this scene, pairing it with a full frame camera without an anti-aliasing filter for the first time in over 20 years.
Hand holding this rig at this low shutter speed was certainly not a good way to test out this combo's true potential, but sometimes you have to work with what you got.
Still after a few dull shots I decided it was time to move on and save this combo test for another time when I might have much better options. As I turned around to place my camera in my bag, I saw a man walking his dog heading my way, and the dog had a huge stick in his mouth.
"This would be the perfect accent to this scene", I mused to myself . "Now if only instead of walking down the path to Martling lake, he takes the fork in the road that crosses over this bridge..."
